Duane Vermeulen Going Home?

We read that Duane Vermeulen is heading back to South Africa which, if true, will certainly solve a number of problems at Springbok level. Both the problematic leadership issue and the lack of quality and experienced No 8’s would be addressed by his return to African shores.

According to French sports newspaper L’Équipe, Vermeulen has confirmed that he will leave Toulon and return to the Stormers and Western Province.

His return to South Africa is said to be due to “his willingness to best prepare for the 2019 World Cup with the Springboks.”

We are also told that Rassie Erasmus, SA Rugby’s new Director of Rugby, was involved in the discussions to lure Thormeulen back.
